This past weekend I had another visit from my mom. Friday night I went to One Scotch @ Sosta... best one yet (at this venue). Then Saturday.. Big Phat Fish @ Big Fish... I decided to bring my mother with me so she could witness the madness first-hand. It wasn't much madness but still, she was able to see the heaps of lovely ladies coming in donning their wonderful heels and seeing them limping out a mere 3 hours later. The drunken tiffs that were snuffed out by security before it turned into a full-blown fight. The lovers quarrels, et al. Then of course the drive home at 6a.m. She was a trooper, adhering to the most important rule of all.. "if I can't sleep, then you can't sleep". She tried to nod off on me on the way home, but I was not having that. I think also that the overall plan was a success. See, when I usually come home at 6a she wakes up at 9a after a full nights rest and wakes me to take her wherever at 10a... hellooooooo, so NOT time to wake up yet. This time she experienced the night life for herself.. and most importantly... no early morning wake up.
On Monday I woke up expecting to be a passenger to the airport, but the driver had other plans. So I had to take her to the airport. I hadn't showered barely combed my hair and Lord knows if my clothes matched. After all, I was just dropping her at the airport.. right?
After our goodbyes, I checked in at home on the food situation, and basically I was on my own. So I decided it was as good a time as any for some Cheesecake pancakes from IHop. Unfortunately I would have been going alone, but considering my state of dress it wasn't such a bad idea. Besides.. it was afternoon at IHOP on a Monday, who the hell I know would be there.. nobody.. so I was safe. Or so I thought. Upon pulling in, I saw two friends from college, who I hadn't seen in a lonnnnnnnnggggg time. Despite the fact that we basically live in the same neighborhood. We're all on myspace and facebook and hi5, so we're not totally out of touch. T was off from work that day and his wife decided to play hooky from work, so here we all were @ Ihop!
We had a delicious breakfast and caught up and hoped to stay in touch offline. It was so nice to meet up with old friends. No pretenses. No airs. Because they know what you look like drunk, broke. sad, happy, excited and they like you anyway.
