Some people will say just about anything...

My rant today is directed towards Elisabeth Hasselbeck. That girl is so Republican she can't see past the end of her nose. I guess I shouldn't pick on her too much though because it's obvious that she lives in a make-believe world.

I've been tuning in to The View recently and I've realized from early on that she shares the sames qualities with Ricki Lake (past talk show host) of living in a world based on how things SHOULD be rather that how things ACTUALLY go.

The latest being her fierce defense of Sarah Palin. Who knows anything about her to defend her so fiercely?? Hello!

Then even after she sided with Bush on so many of his decisions over the years she is now saying that McCain should not be compared to Bush and that she is pro-McCain. What irks me about it the most is that she is one of those that vote strictly Republican no matter what. Without listening to what the party necessarily is saying... and without objectively listening to the policy of the opposing party.

My advice to Elisabeth is that she needs to get out more and talk to Real People and not just her fairy god-mother.

Barack Obama... yes... again!

>> Thursday, September 11, 2008

Living in America, without a current right to vote... to be honest, I had not been following the election closely. I was even baffled at how closely people in Jamaica had been following and they don't even live here, even the ones who have no desire whatsoever to leave Jamaica have been following. I would see snippets of the election coverage and of Michelle Obama on talk shows that I watch or bits on the news.. but no real detailed investigation. From what I saw though, I was very hopeful.. but doubtful that Obama would win. I am very aware that the US is a large country and while I may live in diverse areas, there is still parts of the country that is still somewhat segregated and STILL racist. So as bad as the economy is in this country right now and as hungry as some people are for change, it just seemed to be impossible to think that they would vote for him. This is until I saw the Democratic National Convention.

Okay so I didn't actually watch the whole convention... but I saw Barack Obama speak. I was in awe. I started paying closer attention to him and his campaign, even his family. I am still in awe.

Today my friend Sue sent me a link to some pictures of Obama on his campaign trail. Great pictures by Scout Tufankjian. Have a look see.

I must say though that the one that had the most impact on me was this one.

There is just something about seeing a big man cry that does it to me. Especially since I feel the same way when I hear Barack Obama speak. He really does give us all the Audacity to Hope!

I'm Open!

I'd like to think I'm open-minded. I'd like to think I'm not judgemental, or prudish... but nastiness... is just nastiness.

People who know me, lovingly (I'd hope) refer to my handbag as a Mary Poppins handbag... because it has everything in there. Well, almost everything. Last night it did not have a fork.

Picture this, I'm working the door at a club. I have a bouncer there with me, to search the patrons and secure the door. Meaning his hands move over almost everyone that comes into the club. Men, from waistband to the entire length of the inseam of their pants and sometimes more. He touches everything! I touch money. So I come prepared with my Purell and ever so often... I sanitize.

So later on someone brings over two pieces of cake for us. They didn't have any forks left, but I figure we're at a restaurant/club.. how hard can it be to get a fork? So I wait until I see a waiter walk by... so while I'm waiting for the fork to come.. imagine my surprise when I see the bouncer take his bare hand and shove the cake right into his mouth, without washing his hand!! EWWWWWWWWWWWW
