My love affair..

>> Tuesday, February 24, 2009

...with tall dark men started way before Tyson Beckford or Tyrese. Surely it's no coincidence that my husband is 6'5" tall. Looking back on some old family photos, it came clear to me. You know usually a girl's first love is her Daddy. My Daddy died when I had just turned 4. I remember him, but not everything. I remember being in New York and being sick and my Daddy rubbed me up with tiger balm. After he died, I couldn't stand the smell of it. Anyhow, my first love affair was with Poppy. He was my great-grand-father.

We were all living at my grandmother's house. My great-grand parents, my grandmother and me. I was extremely close to Poppy. Everyday he would sit outside in the sun and read the newspapers. He attributed his lack of needing spectacles to not reading anything by lamplight. I would brush his hair. Rub his aches and pains away with Limocol. I was just in awe of Poppy. When he died, my heart broke. In true Jamaican fashion, since then there have been children coming out of the wood works claiming that he fathered them. Who knows? My extended family, as big as it is, embraces them all. Here he is... on his wedding anniversary in 1967 with Mammy (of course), I think this was their 50th or 60th wedding anniversary together.

The Return!

My friend is back.

Due to my latest venture my friend, who I was very close to at one point, is now back in my life.

I wonder how I feel about it sometimes. I'm happy, because we click very easily, however, I am wary because in the back of my head I think that she didn't fight to save the friendship. She never once reached out to me during the entire time we did not speak. I feel that I tried to keep the communication lines open to a point... and she never shunned me when I did, but she didn't encouraged it either.

It turns out that this time seems to be a good time for us both to be in each others life. So that's great. But, I also feel the need to explain some of the choices I made... and I haven't had the proper opportunity to do so yet. I want to, though another friend has warned me to be careful of my intention in doing so. I am considering it.

Passion Parties!

>> Tuesday, February 10, 2009

About 2 weeks ago, a friend of mine had a Passion Party at her house and invited me. Having no idea on what to expect. I invited my friend to come with me. We were in for a treat. The presenter was good enough and knew enough about her products to explain them, but she wasn't very exciting. All the time I was there I kept thinking, Oh I could do this... so I decided to do it. After asking this other friend who does them herself a million and 3 questions and still counting, I signed up. I'm very excited.

So if you live in the South Florida area and you're interested in hosting a Passion Party click Here and I'll tell ya more!!

Google Chrome

After playing countless Wordscraper games on Facebook and seeing the damn ad for Google Chrome. I got intrigued. So I googled Google Chrome. It's a Google based web browser. So I decided to give it a test drive.

Here's the thing.. it's fast, verrry fast. So me likey that...I like that I can start typing something in the browser and already before I finish I have options, suggestions on what it is I could be typing, including an option to do a straight search, using Google of course.

The tabs are on the very tippy top of the window, so that took a little getting used to, but was workable. What I hate the most about it is... in using this very blog... I can't use the usual shortcuts. You know like usually pressing Ctrl with a B, would usually create BOLD lettering... nope.. instead it's a shortcut within the browser on whether I wanna show the bookmark bar or not. So that part sucks ass... especially since I don't know how else to create Bold or Italics without using those shortcuts.

But hey, if you wanna kick the tires and take it out for a test drive click here or if you just wanna learn more about it here.
